New Jersey man takes evasive action to avoid being struck by car

A Plainfield pedestrian may have jumped onto the hood of his parked car to avoiding being hit by an oncoming car on May 18. The unidentified man was walking around his parked car intending to get inside it around 7 o'clock in the morning when a vehicle approached. The driver of the approaching vehicle, a resident from Roselle headed north on River Road, crashed the car into the pedestrian's car parked on the street.

NTSB recommends lower blood alcohol level

On May 14, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) recommended that all 50 states, including New Jersey, adopt a uniformed blood-alcohol content (BAC) cutoff level of 0.05 percent. Majority of the states use a standard 0.08 percent BAC for adults. The NTSB, which advocates safety issues and investigates transportation accidents, recommended the new standard to create tighter standards to end drunk driving, which accounts for approximately one-third of road deaths in the United States.

New Jersey truck accident sends one to hospital

New Jersey State Police reported that an automotive accident occurred on Interstate 295. The truck accident occurred after a tractor-trailer impacted with a car.

Motorcyclist injured in crash in New Jersey

A 71-year-old man was injured while riding his motorcycle in Readington, New Jersey, when a 60-year-old female driver attempted to cross the highway and struck him. When the motorcyclist was hit by the woman's Toyota Prius, he was sent flying off of his motorcycle and landed about 80 feet away. Medics arrived on the scene shortly after the accident and administered first aid to both the man who was riding the motorcycle and the woman driving the car. It is believed that the man suffered a compound fracture to his leg as a result of the motorcycle accident while the woman was taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. The accident is still being investigated by authorities.
