Automaker seeks to recall thousands of cars due to faulty pedal

New Jersey drivers may wish to know about the latest auto recall affecting thousands of cars in the U.S. and around the world. The issue with the car affects its acceleration, which could be extremely dangerous while driving.

Car maker Aston Martin, creator of the Vantage, Rapide and Virage, instituted a recall of certain models due to a faulty accelerator pedal arm. If the pedal were to break while driving, the car would no longer accelerate. The car would then be unable to maintain speed, which could be dangerous in many situations. After a small amount of the cars were recalled, it was discovered that the replacement parts used were not up to specifications. According to reports, the Chinese supplier had used materials of a lesser quality when making the parts.

Due to this, the cars that had been recalled once were forced to be recalled again in a greater amount. This time, Aston Martin says that the parts will be made in Great Britain to ensure quality. Overall, nearly 18,000 cars globally are affected. This accounts for a majority of the cars manufactured by Aston Martin from 2007 to 2013. In the U.S., some 5,000 automobiles are to be recalled. The affected models include the DB9, Rapide and Rapide S, and V8 and V12 Vantage models. These cars start at around $117,000 from U.S. dealerships.

Due to the seriousness of the possible accidents that could result from the faulty parts, the negligent manufacturer may be held liable for any medical costs associated with incurred injuries. An attorney who has experience dealing with car accident cases may be able to investigate the faulty part and bring a successful lawsuit against the manufacturer. This could result in compensation for any personal injury or wrongful death damages from the crash.
