5 people hurt in Warren Township single-car accident

Single-car accidents typically involve crashes into terrain, private property or similarly immobile objects. In situations like this, some people may not realize that they have the right to hold a driver accountable, even if the driver was operating the vehicle you were riding in. Passengers in a car may have the right to seek compensation for medical expenses or damages from the driver or the insurance company covering the vehicle in some car wrecks.

Recently, a 23-year-old male lost control of his vehicle while traveling along Route 78 in Warren Township in the late afternoon hours of Aug. 25. All five people in the vehicle were injured in the accident. Reported injuries sustained by passengers included internal injuries, fractured ribs, and cuts on the head and face. Passengers were taken to Morristown Medical Center and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital to receive immediate care.

According to a news report, the vehicle veered off the roadway and collided with trees before flipping. The accident shut down that section of the interstate for a time while emergency responders and police helped the victims. It is not immediately clear if high speeds or alcohol were involved in the crash. Contributing factors such as speeding and drunk driving may increase the viability of a claim against a driver.

Victims of auto accidents may be able to receive compensation for their injuries when the driver of a vehicle has acted in a reckless or negligent fashion. Many different factors can affect a victim's right to pursue compensation for injuries or damages arising from such an accident. Understanding your options for pursuing a case can allow you to determine the best course of action when accidents occur.
