Inexperienced drivers can sometimes show poor judgment on the road. Statistically, teenagers are more likely to be involved in car accidents than adults. They may also not know how to appropriately react after such accidents because of their inexperience. A recent Long Hill case shows some of the consequences of fleeing the scene of a serious accident.
An 18-year-old Long Hill teen is facing a variety of charges related to a car crash that occurred on the morning of Sept. 10, according to Warren police. These charges include reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lanes and leaving the scene of an accident.
The teen was driving near Watchung Hills Regional High School on Mountain Avenue around 7 a.m., shortly before classes began at the school, when his car struck the curb. According to police, he lost control of his car and left the scene of the accident.
Police stated that they later pulled the driver over on Indian Rock Road, near to the accident scene. An accident investigation by Warren police discovered that the driver lost control of his car before leaving the scene of the accident. Police also said that marks on the road showed that the car was accelerating rapidly just before it struck the curb.
While no one was injured in this accident, car accidents can result in serious and even fatal injuries. Anyone who has been in a car accident should be aware of their full legal rights. It is possible to receive compensation for injuries sustained in a car accident.
