A two-car crash in Jefferson on Sept. 27 resulted in injuries to three people. One 21-year-old woman from East Hanover reportedly sustained serious injuries during the accident, although the injuries are not considered life-threatening. A father and daughter also received injuries in the car accident.
The incident occurred on Berkshire Valley Road near its intersection with Minnisink Road just after 8:15 in the morning. The East Hanover woman allegedly crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic. Her Volkswagen struck a pickup truck being driven by a 16-year-old girl from Newton who holds a learner’s permit. The girl’s father, 53, was sitting in the passenger’s seat supervising his daughter’s driving. The force of the collision sent the 21-year-old’s car into the guardrail. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, but police stated the conditions on the road were slippery at the time of the accident.
The injuries sustained by the driver of the Volkswagen reportedly include a head injury. Authorities transported her to Morristown Memorial Hospital. The father and daughter were transported to St. Clare’s-Dover for reportedly moderate injuries, but their exact injuries are unknown.
Emergency personnel closed the road for the morning, along with Minnisink Road, so that authorities could investigate the scene. The Morris County Traffic Investigation Unit and Jefferson police, fire and rescue responded to the accident.
When people end up injured in car accidents caused by someone else, they have the right to file a personal injury claim against the negligent driver. If successful, a personal injury claim can result in monetary compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering among other damages.
