Man dead after being involved in two accidents

Whether roads are packed with rush hour traffic or nearly void of vehicles, there is always the potential for accidents. Roadways can be especially dangerous when cars and pedestrians are on the road at the same time. An auto accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian can leave victims with serious injuries and can result in death.

A New Jersey man has lost his life after being involved in two traffic accidents. It happened in Kenilworth on Feb. 18. Authorities say the first accident involved two vehicles and the second was an auto-pedestrian accident.

According to State Police, a 21-year-old Riverside man was first involved in an accident on Garden State Parkway in Cranford. The man's Honda Accord and another vehicle collided in the northbound lanes of the highway around 12:20 a.m. Police say the man apparently left his vehicle at the scene of the accident, climbed over the median and tried to cross the southbound lanes of traffic to get the other side of the highway. The man was reportedly hit by two vehicles while trying to run across the road. About 12:45 a.m., authorities found him dead in the left lane of Garden State Parkway in Kenilworth. The investigators are still looking into the accident.

Accidents can be caused by a drunk, negligent or distracted driver, but it may be a case of cars and people sharing a congested space, making it harder to see pedestrians trying to cross the street. Whatever the cause, accident victims can sustain spinal injuries, lacerations, broken bones and other injuries that may require long-term and costly medical care. Unfortunately, sometimes the injuries sustained in an accident can be fatal for the victim. When the tragedy happens, the family of the victim killed in auto-pedestrian accidents may be left with only the emotional pain from the loss of their loved one if they do not act quickly to learn about their rights to compensation and the legal channels through which to exercise those rights.
