A 25-year-old man hit a 49-year-old man who was crossing the street in Washington Township on March 8th. The man who was hit reportedly sustained leg and hip injuries as a result of the auto accident.
According to police, the driver from Lopatcong was traveling in a Toyota Matrix at approximately 3:35 p.m. on Route 46 west and approaching the Target Driver intersection when he saw the pedestrian enter the roadway from a shoulder on the westbound lane. The driver was not able to stop before he hit the man. The injured pedestrian was taken to a medical center in Hackettstown. Police say that a crosswalk was available in the area but that the man did not use it.
