A drunk driver was taken into custody by Andover Township police on July 12th. The New Jersey man was charged with drunk driving when he allegedly left the scene of an accident which resulted in two flat tires.
The 31-year-old man was charged with various offenses including reckless driving, driving while intoxicated, driving without a license and leaving the scene of an auto accident. The man refused to submit to a breath test.
Authorities were able to locate the man when they found an immobilized car. The vehicle was found near the Lenape Avenue and Route 517 intersection where the man drove his vehicle after the hit-and-run. Police administered a roadside investigation of the man and found that he appeared to be intoxicated. The man was taken into the Police Department. According to officials, he was released to his friend and has a municipal court appearance pending.
