An accident that occurred in New Jersey involving three cars resulted in one person being transported to the hospital. According to Chatham police, a 2013 BMW that was being driven by a 61-year-old man traveling west on Main Street at approximately 2:14 in the afternoon struck a 2012 Cadillac that was stopped in traffic, driven by a 58-year-old woman. The impact of the collision caused the woman’s Cadillac to collide with the Dodge that was in front of it, driven by a 19-year-old man.
The 58-year-old woman suffered from minor injuries and was transported to the Morristown Medical Center. The Chatham Fire Department and the Chatham Emergency Squad responded to the scene along with police officers. The 61-year-old driver of the BMW was charged with careless driving in the car accident.
The woman who was injured in the car accident may decide to sue the driver of the BMW for her injuries. She could decide to file a personal injury claim against the man, stating that her injuries would not have happened had the driver of the BMW stopped to avoid running into the back of her car. If won, a personal injury lawsuit may reimburse her for her medical expenses, any lost wages from having to take time off work due to her injuries and pain and suffering.
A personal injury lawyer might be able to help the woman properly file her claim. Furthermore, a lawyer might be able to help her negotiate a settlement for her claim outside the courtroom. However, if her case does end up having to go before a judge or jury, a lawyer might be able to help her present evidence validating her claims.
