A New Brunswick resident collided with four different vehicles while driving his 2001 Mercedes on the evening of Sept. 28. The driver’s troubles began when he hit a Nissan traveling on Route 27 and left the scene. Then, traveling on Jersey Avenue, the man crashed his car into the rear of a 1995 Honda. Afterward, he hit two cars that were in front of the Honda.

The driver or the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene, but the others involved in the accident were unharmed. After leaving the scene of the Jersey Avenue car accident, the driver of the Mercedes was finally arrested and was charged with aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide and eluding the police.

Car accidents happen so often that people sometimes forget how much they can affect a person’s life. However, the people who are involved understand the pressure and hardship that can come as a result of an accident. Sometimes, an individual may require immediate medical attention as a result of a car wreck, and if a victim has to miss work due to hospitalization, physical therapy or chronic pain, lost income is also an issue. Emotional stress and property damage may also be of concern to the victims.

Personal injury lawsuits are often used to seek compensatory damages for the treatment of injuries, pain and suffering and lost wages. A lawyer who is familiar with car accident cases may be able to help a victim receive compensation for some of the damages listed above.
