More than 15,500 Hyundai minivans, some sold in New Jersey, will be affected by a recent company recall dealing with a cold-weather corrosion issue. The front lower control arms may be affected by salt and water. The resulting loss of control in the vehicle could lead to a car accident.
While no injuries have been reported so far, Hyundai is taking no chances with the possibility that a cold winter could lead to fractured control arms and subsequent accidents with injuries. The automaker is recalling more than 15,000 Entourage minivans manufactured between February 16, 2006, and June 20, 2008. The affected vehicles were either sold or later registered in states that traditionally have significant snow and ice, including Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey as well as some Midwestern and New England states.
Depending on the level of wear observed in these vehicles when they are returned for servicing, Hyundai may elect to rustproof them or to replace them altogether. Customers will receive a notification that their vehicles are under recall and will be asked to take them to the nearest Hyundai dealer for service immediately.
