Occupants of overturned SUV injured in New Jersey highway crash

A crash between a car and a sport utility vehicle on the Garden State Parkway left two occupants of the SUV hospitalized with critical injuries. It is unclear whether the driver of the car was injured. An investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no charges have yet been filed.

On Dec. 13, a 23-year-old woman from Saddle Brook was traveling southbound on the Garden State Parkway in the right lane when she lost control of her vehicle, crossed the center line and collided into an SUV. The impact of the collision propelled both vehicles into a concrete median, causing the SUV to flip over and land on its roof. In addition to the two critically-injured women in the SUV, others involved in the crash received treatment for their injuries.

Car accident injuries could include trauma to the head, neck and spine. Survivors of these catastrophic events are often left with permanent cognitive and ambulatory disabilities requiring dramatic adjustments to their way of life. Many people who previously lived independent and economically-productive lives could find themselves wholly reliant upon others to help them carry out the most basic of personal care functions. Others who enjoyed satisfying careers may no longer be able to earn a living in the profession of their choosing if they are able to work at all.

The substantial losses suffered by those injured in car crashes immediately following the event and for years into the future may be recoverable under New Jersey law. This compensation could include medical and rehabilitative care, lost wages and benefits and the loss of the ability to earn a living. A personal injury attorney may be able to help identify and pursue all categories of recoverable losses.
