One man was killed and four other people were injured in New Jersey after they were involved in a car accident that occurred on June 13. The incident happened around 6:15 a.m. on the eastbound side of the New Jersey Turnpike near Exit 14C. According to local reports, a 24-year-old man driving a Lincoln Town Car rear-ended a Toyota at a tollbooth.
The impact of the collision forced the Toyota through a cone median before it was hit by an oncoming Infinity. Both vehicles ended up in the exit of Interchange 14C. A 45-year-old passenger in the Toyota was declared dead at the wreck scene. The four surviving victims were brought to Jersey Medical Center to receive treatment for their injuries. None of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash. The investigation remained underway throughout the day, but there were no arrests made or citations issued following the incident.
The victims involved in a car accident may consider filing a personal injury suit against the driver liable for the crash. The direct relatives of a victim killed in a wreck may also be entitled to recover compensation to help account for funeral costs and other damages caused by the accident.
The surviving victims might be able to collect restitution to help offset medical expenses, car repair costs and any loss of income. A lawyer may rely on witness accounts and evidence provided by the police investigation in an effort to prove the liable motorist’s negligence or recklessness. Legal counsel may also be effective at negotiating an adequate settlement amount outside the courtroom.
