Car injures 2 pedestrians

An accident on the streets of New Jersey has injured two pedestrians and sparked an official investigation. According to the chief of the Clark Township Police Department, the two were injured at about 6 p.m. on Jan. 29.

The police chief only identified the pedestrians who were hit as a 56-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man. They had been going for a walk together on Gibson Boulevard when the vehicle struck them. Reports indicate that the accident happened behind a Target department store.

Both pedestrians had to be taken by helicopter to Newark, where they were treated at the University Hospital. The police were unwilling to identify the driver of the vehicle that hit them, but they stated that an investigation had been opened and there was still a possibility that the driver would be cited or charged.

Any pedestrian who has suffered an injury caused by negligence or the careless operation of an automobile may have the right to seek compensation from the driver. This compensation might cover their medical bills, rehabilitation costs and other damages. In addition, they may be able to cover lost wages and long-term economic harm that might result from a lengthy or permanent loss of ability. Their spouse and close family may also sue for the loss of support and consortium they would have normally enjoyed.

An attorney may be of service to those who wish to exercise their rights and pursue remuneration for the harm for which another party is liable. If the police were to press criminal charges against the defendant for their part in the injury-causing accident, then the plaintiffs in the civil case would be able to use any evidence that entered into the public record as part of their own suit.
