Recent crashes raise safety concerns at New Jersey gas stations

In the early days of the automobile age, urban planners without an understanding of how much room a vehicle needs to stop, turn and accelerate built gas stations extremely close to the road. Many of those stations, some that predate World War II, are still in operation in New Jersey. The law does not require owners of old gas stations to comply with modern zoning standards, requiring only that they must follow the law if they choose to renovate. Furthermore, zoning rules vary by municipality, with no statewide standard for safety.

Snow removal and accidents on the road

In many parts of the country, this has been an especially difficult winter with unusually cold temperatures and significant snowfall. This can increase the chances of crashes in different ways, whether ice covers the road or a driver’s visibility is adversely affected by heavy snowfall. Moreover, this may also necessitate snow removal, which could lead to a collision for a number of different reasons. During the winter, people who live in areas that see dangerous road conditions should be especially vigilant and mindful of some of the other risk factors that are associated with this weather.

Head-on collision in New Jersey leads to critical injuries

It is always tragic when an innocent child with no driving privileges becomes the victim of a car accident. Tragedy struck again last week as an eight-year-old girl sustained critical injuries in a crash allegedly caused by the driver of the vehicle in which she was riding. The 34-year-old woman driving the vehicle also received critical injuries, and both remain hospitalized at a local medical facility. The relationship between the woman and the young girl is unclear at this time, even though reports refer to the automobile involved as a family vehicle.

What's the price of distracted driving?

You are one of thousands of drivers who use New Jersey roads every single day. Unfortunately, there is a large chance that you will cross pass with multiple drivers who are driving distractedly at any given time. Worse still is the high cost of distracted driving.

What dangers do you face driving through road construction?

If New Jersey residents can count on anything, it is that road construction is an inevitable part of life in this state, but these construction zones are often hotbeds for car crashes and associated injuries. There are numerous factors that collectively add to your crash risk anytime you make your way through a construction zone in New Jersey, so, when possible, it may serve you well to try and avoid them.

Have millennial drivers earned their bad reputation?

Nowadays, residents of New Jersey and the nation who fall within a particular age group are known as millennials, and millennials have a reputation for regularly engaging in dangerous driving practices. Just how much of that “bad driver” reputation do they actually deserve, though, and just how much are they endangering the rest of the motoring public?

Is hands-free technology safe?

If you are like many other people in New Jersey, you may talk or text on your cellphone while behind the wheel. This dangerous practice can lead to serious car accidents, injuries and deaths. In New Jersey, and in many other states across the country, using a hand-held cellphone while driving is illegal. As a result, some have started using hands-free cellphones as a way to stay in compliance with the law. Studies show, however, that this advanced form of cellular technology may not be as safe as some think.

Horrific crash leaves woman without family

Residents in New Jersey and the surrounding areas of the region know that the summer holidays and weekends are times to be extra aware of dangers on the road. However, people cannot be expected to hole up and stay home all of the time for fear that a reckless person will cause them harm so they must take the risk of being in an accident in order to live their lives. That is the choice that many people made on the recent Fourth of July weekend. Unfortunately for one family, the outcome was almost unthinkable.
