Teen driver-involved crashes increase during “100 Deadliest Days”

For teenagers across New Jersey, the onset of summer typically means more time and freedom to do what they please. For everyone else, though, it means more teen drivers will be making their way to the state’s streets and highways, and this can mean big trouble for the motoring public. At Lieberman, Ryan & Forrest, L.L.C., we understand that road fatalities stemming from incidents involving teen drivers spike sharply during the summer, and we have helped many people involved in, or who lost loved ones in, crashes involving teenagers pursue recourse.

Does whiplash pose hidden dangers?

As a resident of New Jersey who has gotten into a crash, you may be suffering from symptoms of whiplash. Though whiplash is sometimes treated as an injury that is comparatively easy to handle, it can actually have a lasting impact on your health.

What is a dooring accident?

As a bicyclist in New Jersey, you already know you face numerous dangers when riding your bike. Whether you ride in congested areas or prefer to take your bike out in the country, an accident with a motor vehicle can be devastating. Being doored is just one of the many hazards that can unexpectedly come your way when you are on your bicycle.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month

Like many drivers in New Jersey and elsewhere, you may understand how easy it can be to get distracted while behind the wheel. A distraction you did not intend can come out of nowhere, such as a serious accident that is all too tempting to stare at as you go by. At the law office of Lieberman, Ryan & Forrest, L.L.C., we also understand the prevalence of driving distractions, as well as how dangerous they can be for you and others.

How to spot an aggressive driver

Navigating the New Jersey roadways can be daunting. It is not uncommon to get stuck in traffic while rushing to work or an appointment, which can cause serious frustration. According to AAA, approximately 80 percent of motorists across the United States admit to engaging in aggressive driving at some point within the last year. These dangerous driving behaviors come with a heavy risk. Aggressive drivers can cause catastrophic traffic accidents, which lead to serious injuries and death. AAA reported that 56 percent of deadly car accidents involve a form of aggressive driving. It may be critical that you know how to spot an aggressive driver, so you can potentially avoid an accident.

Recent crashes raise safety concerns at New Jersey gas stations

In the early days of the automobile age, urban planners without an understanding of how much room a vehicle needs to stop, turn and accelerate built gas stations extremely close to the road. Many of those stations, some that predate World War II, are still in operation in New Jersey. The law does not require owners of old gas stations to comply with modern zoning standards, requiring only that they must follow the law if they choose to renovate. Furthermore, zoning rules vary by municipality, with no statewide standard for safety.

Snow removal and accidents on the road

In many parts of the country, this has been an especially difficult winter with unusually cold temperatures and significant snowfall. This can increase the chances of crashes in different ways, whether ice covers the road or a driver’s visibility is adversely affected by heavy snowfall. Moreover, this may also necessitate snow removal, which could lead to a collision for a number of different reasons. During the winter, people who live in areas that see dangerous road conditions should be especially vigilant and mindful of some of the other risk factors that are associated with this weather.

Head-on collision in New Jersey leads to critical injuries

It is always tragic when an innocent child with no driving privileges becomes the victim of a car accident. Tragedy struck again last week as an eight-year-old girl sustained critical injuries in a crash allegedly caused by the driver of the vehicle in which she was riding. The 34-year-old woman driving the vehicle also received critical injuries, and both remain hospitalized at a local medical facility. The relationship between the woman and the young girl is unclear at this time, even though reports refer to the automobile involved as a family vehicle.

What's the price of distracted driving?

You are one of thousands of drivers who use New Jersey roads every single day. Unfortunately, there is a large chance that you will cross pass with multiple drivers who are driving distractedly at any given time. Worse still is the high cost of distracted driving.
